Cerberus is a massive three-headed dog that guards the entrance to Hades, the underworld. His task was to prevent neither the dead from leaving nor the living from entering. However, he has been repeatedly put to sleep by means of soothing music or drugged food. Hercules even managed to wrestle him out of Hades, where the first the first poisonous plants on Earth were born from Cerberus's drool.
